The city is seeking public comment on the plan, which can be viewed here. Comment on the plan will be accepted until May 9 and input on the eventual name of the open space will be accepted until May 31.
The 121-acre open space was purchased by the city in June 2011 as part of the former HP/Agilent property acquisition for the development of the Rocky Mountain Center for Innovation and Technology. RMCIT developer Cumberland and Western purchased some of the property from Loveland, but the open space remains the property of the city.
The site is adjacent to the City’s Recreation Trail along the Big Thompson River and contain three ponds and a number of historical structures associated with the Swartz family farmstead.
Proceeds from the city’s Open Space Expansion Fee were allocated for the open-space acquisition, designating the property for open space use only.
