Louisville city council gives go-ahead to pursue King Soopers for Sam’s Club site

A plan to redevelop the former Sam’s Club site in Louisville into a 124,000-square-foot King Soopers grocery store took another step forward this week.

The Colorado Hometown Weekly reports that the Louisville City Council voted in favor of planning staff negotiating a redevelopment agreement with the site’s property owners.

Revitalizing the site, declared blighted by the city last year, has been a key priority for Louisville officials since Sam’s Club closed in 2010. In January, city council put out a request for proposals for the site, with the King Soopers proposal brought forth by the property’s owners the only one submitted by the March deadline.
