Longmont satellite-imagery provider DigitalGlobe cuts 155 jobs

Satellite-imagery provider DigitalGlobe Inc. (NYSE: DGI) is laying off 155 workers, despite a recent 2014 earnings report that beat expectations.

The Denver Post reports that 64 of the job cuts will come in Colorado, with 100 company employees and 55 contractors losing their jobs. A spokeswoman for the Longmont-based company told the Post that the move is part of an effort to refocus some of its internal resources, and that the company plans to “hire back half that number with different skill sets almost immediately.”

Last week, DigitalGlobe began offering its highest-resolution images allowed by the government to commercial customers, a move expected to enhance sales growth in 2015.
