Longmont to pay $550,000 for land near Ralph Price Reservoir

The city of Longmont has struck a deal in which it will pay $550,000 for a 40-acre property near Ralph Price Reservoir as part of its efforts to manage land around the reservoir.

The Times-Call reports that the deal, which is pending city council approval, includes Leupold family land and a house, the latter of which could be renovated and converted into a ranger house.

Longmont officials told the paper that owning the land would give the city the chance to thin a heavily forested section of the property. The area around the reservoir, which helps supply the city of Longmont with its water, suffered severe damage during the 2013 flood.
