Licon hired as new director for Fort Collins-Loveland Airport

LOVELAND – Jason Licon, airport manager for the Kankakee Valley Airport Authority in Kankakee, Ill., for the last 10 years, has been hired as the new manager for the Fort Collins-Loveland Airport.

Licon’s hiring was announced Wednesday. He was among four finalists for the job that came open in April when former airport manager, Dave Gordon, resigned to become director of the Colorado Department of Transportation’s Division of Aeronautics. Keith Reester, public works director for the city of Loveland, has been serving as interim director.

Licon, a licensed pilot, will begin his duties at the Fort Collins-Loveland Airport in February. Licon holds a bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management from Southern Illinois University and is completing his master’s degree in Business Administration at Ashford University.

Licon was selected by an Airport Steering Committee that included the mayors and city managers of Loveland and Fort Collins, which each owns 50 percent of the airport. ADK Consulting and Executive Search of Atlantic Beach, Fla., assisted in the hiring process.

“The experience Jason brings to (Fort Collins-Loveland Airport) strongly supports airport operations, community engagement and general aviation economic development,” Reester said in a press release.

Licon’s salary was not disclosed.
