Lafayette sues over Nine Mile Corner dispute with Erie
The dispute between the towns of Erie and Lafayette over Nine Mile Corner — 45 acres at the southeast corner of U.S. 287 and Arapahoe Road — rose to a new level on Friday.
The Colorado Hometown Weekly reports that Lafayette filed a condemnation lawsuit in Boulder County District Court to acquire about half of the disputed land for open space.
The town of Erie has been working with developers for months on a plan to turn the site into a variety of retail uses, while Lafayette has fought that project, arguing that it encroaches too close to its own northern border.
