KB Home acquires 9.7 acres from McWhinney at North Park in Broomfield

BROOMFIELD — KB Home has acquired 9.7 acres in the North Park Community, a 935-acre mixed-use development in Broomfield, where it will build 96 homes.

Los Angeles-based KB Home (NYSE: KBH) bought the property from Loveland-based McWhinney Real Estate Services Inc, which is developing North Park. The purchase price was not disclosed, and the deal has not yet appeared in public records.

North Park includes homes, apartments, shopping and dining, open space and trails, and a walkable urban-core business district. It is located near Interstate 25, between Colorado Highway 7 and the Northwest Parkway.

KB Home plans to build 48 duplexes creating 96 homes at North Park. It will offer four two-story floor plans that range in size from 1,443 square feet to 1,682 square feet that can accommodate up to four bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths and a two-car garage. The homes will be built to Energy Star guidelines. Pricing is anticipated to begin in the mid-$300,000s.

KB Home, founded in 1957, has built approximately 550,000 homes. McWhinney, with offices in Loveland and Denver, has planned and developed more than 6,000 acres in several master-planned communities and more than 6 million square feet of commercial and mixed-use properties throughout the Rocky Mountain region and on the West Coast.
