JJ’s Sweets distributing new candy nationwide
The chocolate-covered Cocomels are handcrafted non-GMO, dairy- and gluten-free coconut milk caramels covered with a layer of vegan dark chocolate. They are available in sea salt, vanilla and espresso varieties.

JJ’s Sweets, led by founder JJ Rademaekers, was able to ramp up production after receiving a $40,000 loan in February through Austin, Texas-based Whole Foods’ Local Producer Loan Program.
The money was used to purchase chocolate enrobing equipment, said Saskia Cervantes, director of marketing for JJ’s Sweets.
“We launched the new Cocomels in April with Whole Foods Market in the Rocky Mountain region, and now we are opening up to nationwide distribution with the chocolates,” Cervantes said.
Since its inception in 2006, Whole Foods’ loan program has provided 184 loans totaling $25 million to 155 companies.
