Inkpad coworking space opens in Old Town Fort Collins

FORT COLLINS — The coworking craze continues to take hold.

Inkpad became the latest to join Fort Collins’ coworking scene on Tuesday, when it opened in 2,000 square feet on the second floor of 236 Linden St.

Inkpad’s new spot is just a couple of doors down from Galvanize, which opened a local campus just last month at 242 Linden.

“We’ve had some construction and technical hiccups, but we’re finally ready to roll,” Inkpad owner Stefanie Haines said Tuesday.

Haines, a former elementary school teacher and principal, previously owned the Quattro Vino wine store in Fort Collins and online retail shop. In her new venture, she’s catering to the growing surge in entrepreneurs and independent professionals looking for community in their day-to-day workspaces.

Inkpad includes 24 desks, with members reserving space for $350 per month. Unlike some coworking models that include drop-in time or flex-desk situation, Inkpad is offering only dedicated desks where entrepreneurs can set up and use as their own as long as they’re members.

“I think that’s what makes us unique from a traditional coworking space,” Haines said. “It’s more of a permanent space than having to pack up every day.”

Rather than worrying about increased competition, Fort Collins’ coworking spaces seem to be embracing each other’s presence.

Dubbing their informal group the Deep Space Alliance, the leaders from Cohere, Galvanize, Inkpad and Digital Workshop Center have begun meeting to see how they can collaborate and help each other promote coworking in the community. Cohere founder Angel Kwiatkowski spearheaded the effort, Haines said.

“What we wanted to do was get together and share resources and referrals, possibly host events with one another and come together as an alliance to sort of spread the word in Fort Collins about what coworking is,” Haines said.
