Houska Automotive moving forward with 3-building expansion
FORT COLLINS — Houska Automotive Services Inc. is moving forward with plans to construct three buildings totaling 33,100 square feet on 2.5 acres at 1005 Riverside Ave., between Lemay Avenue and Mulberry Street in Fort Collins.
The site previously was zoned neighborhood commercial and recently was rezoned to limited commercial to accommodate the project.
The proposed development is adjacent to the current Houska locations at 899 and 901 Riverside, where the family-owned business operates auto repair, service and tire shops. The business was established in 1952 by Chuck Houska, and currently is led by Chuck’s son, Dennis Houska, and his son, L.J. Houska.

The new buildings will be used for major auto repair and other auto-related uses, according to documents filed with the city’s planning department. The maximum height of the three buildings is proposed to be 29 feet. The project construction will be phased, beginning with an 11,902-square-foot building that includes an office and truck-repair garage bays. The first phase will also include two parking areas — one permanent and one temporary.
In the final buildout of the site, the temporary gravel storage and part of the asphalt parking will be demolished for the future 12,366-square-foot and 9,650-square-foot buildings.
