Hearts & Horses Therapeutic Riding Center to unveil renovations

LOVELAND — The Hearts & Horses Therapeutic Riding Center west of Loveland will host a grand opening for its newly renovated riding center and office space from 2 to 4 p.m. on May 1.

Hearts & Horses, 163 N. Larimer County Road 29, opened in 1997. It serves Loveland and surrounding communities, helping children and adults with physical and cognitive impairments, at-risk youth, Alzheimer’s patients and military veterans meet life goals through therapeutic riding and interaction with horses.

The May 1 event marks the conclusion of a two-year renovation of the arena, originally built in the mid-1970s. The project was funded with $175,000 in grant funding and $850,000 of individual contributions and in-kind donations from area businesses, contractors and manufacturers.

“We are so excited to celebrate this milestone with our Northern Colorado community,” executive director Jan Pollema said in a press release. “This community went above and beyond for us on this project.”

The grand opening will include live music, food and a ribbon cutting by the Loveland Chamber of Commerce, as well as educational presentations and therapeutic riding demonstrations.
