Hawk chosen to lead Denver/Boulder BBB

DENVER – The Better Business Bureau of Denver/Boulder has named Su Hawk as president and chief executive of the organization and executive director of its foundation.

Hawk replaces Dale Mingilton, who left the bureau earlier this year after taking the job in March 2009.

Hawk previously was president of the Colorado Technology Association, a job she held for nearly nine years before stepping down at the end of 2011.

“We are excited to have Su as our CEO for the Denver/Boulder BBB. Her experience and background is an excellent match for the future plans of the BBB,´ said Mark Renn, chairman of the BBB’s board of directors. “In addition to her quality background, having strong Colorado ties and connections is what we wanted in our CEO/president.”

During her tenure at the Colorado Technology Association (formerly CSIA), Hawk focused efforts on growth strategies that honored the organization’s original mission and founders.

“The BBB has an outstanding reputation for ethical and business standards both regionally and nationally, so it is an honor to be asked to lead the organization for increased growth and community value,” Hawk said in a prepared statement. “The board, staff and industry members are highly regarded, and I look forward to working with each to ensure the BBB here in Denver and Boulder provides the highest and most relevant value for all we serve.”

A Colorado native, Hawk has been part of the Denver metro area business community for more than 25 years. Her previous positions have included vice president of the Denver Metro Chamber, publisher of Front Range TechBiz, director at Public Service Co., executive vice president at Clarus Public Relations and senior vice president at Southeast Business Partnership.

She has volunteered in the community for more than 30 years, and serves on the boards of Open World Learning and Colorado MESA.

She has worked with the staffs of and served on advisory or transition committees for Colorado Govs. Bill Owens, Bill Ritter and John Hickenlooper as well as the national council for the Technology Councils of North America.
