Guaranty Bancorp closing 5 branches following acquisition of Home State

DENVER — In the wake of Guaranty Bancorp’s acquisition of Home State Bancorp in September, the Denver-based bank is in the process of closing five branches in Northern Colorado and the Boulder Valley.

According to the Colorado Division of Banking’s October report released Tuesday, the division approved Guaranty Bank’s notice to the division it intends to close them.

Paul Taylor, Guaranty Bancorp’s president and chief executive, said the branch at 2900 S. College Ave. in Fort Collins closed last month, and four others will be closed by the end of the year. Those four are at 310 Mountain Ave. in Berthoud, 565 West S. Boulder Road in Lafayette, 351 Coffman St. in Longmont and 7499 Westgate Drive in Windsor.

Taylor said following the acquisition there was some duplication with branches in close proximity to one another. After the acquisition, the combined banks had 37 locations, and following the closures there will be 32. Guaranty still has five locations in Fort Collins, three in Longmont and one in Berthoud, but now, will have none in Windsor or Lafayette.

Prior to the merger, Home State Bank operated 11 branches, with four in Loveland, three in Fort Collins and one each in Windsor, Berthoud, Longmont and Lafayette. Guaranty Bank had 26 locations, including three in each of the cities of Fort Collins and Longmont, two in Greeley, and one each in Loveland, Boulder and Berthoud.
