Greeley planning commission approves car dealership plan

GREELEY — The city of Greeley’s planning commission has approved car dealer Warren Yoder’s plan to construct a 23,190-square-foot car dealership in Greeley where he will sell Mazdas and Subarus.

Yoder’s Weld County Garage bought the two dealerships from Ehrlich Motors in March. They are operating as Greeley Subaru-Mazda at 2805 8th St. Yoder wants to move that dealership to land that is between 24th and 25th streets, west of 47th Avenue. Weld County Garage operates a Buick/GMC dealership at 2699 47th Ave.

The city’s planning commission approved the project Tuesday. The next step is for Weld County Garage to apply for a building permit, said city planner Carlin Barkeen.

The dealership will be built on 9.4 acres of vacant land owned by Matt Chismar. It will occupy 6.9 acres. The one-story building will have a height of 28 feet. It will include an 11,827-square-foot showroom, 16,146-square-foot service department and 300 spaces to display inventory, according to documents submitted to the city.

Yoder did not immediately return a phone call Friday requesting comment.
