Greeley home prices jump 24%

GREELEY – Home prices in Greeley and Evans increased 24.2 percent in September over the same month in 2011.

According to Information and Real Estate Services, the median home price in Greeley in September was $162,000, up from $130,000 in September 2011.

The increase follows a 19.2 percent jump in median home price year-over-year in August. Home prices in Greeley have increased year-over-year every month so far in 2012, except for February, when prices remained flat.

Greeley has seen a decrease in the number of homes sold so far this year compared to 2011. Year-to-date in September, 933 homes were sold in Greeley, while the first nine months of 2011 resulted in 972 home sales.

Other metropolitan areas in Northern Colorado have also seen increases in home prices, but they have not been as drastic. In Fort Collins, the median home price increased 3.1 percent in September over the previous year.

In Loveland and Berthoud, the median home price increased 10.5 percent in the same period.

September data from CoreLogic shows that home prices have increased by 7.4 percent in Colorado and by 5 percent nationwide.
