Greeley chamber to honor volunteers, companies at annual banquet

The Greeley Chamber of Commerce said Monday will honor three people and three companies at the chamber’s annual awards banquet Feb. 7.

The event, which takes place at the Island Grove Events Center, will begin with a reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and award presentations. The theme of this year’s event is, “The more you uncover, the more you discover.”

Mike Geile, Aims Community College trustee and former Weld County commissioner, will receive the Leann Anderson Community Care award for his volunteerism.

Empowering communities

The chamber will honor Dr. Alexia Peake of Peake Wellness Center, Young Entrepreneur of the Year, for her professional accomplishments and volunteerism. The chamber also will honor Christine McDermott of Atmos Energy as its Ambassador of the Year.

Three area businesses will receive the 2012 Winner’s Circle Awards.

The Winner’s Circle honors chamber member companies that have operated at least three years; demonstrated creativity, imagination and innovation; and supported the community through personal or financial resources. This year’s honorees are Dave Owens of FASTSIGNS Greeley, Matt Larson of Kenny’s Steak House and Phil White of Phil’s Pro Auto.
