Go NoCo officials clash with state over funding for projects

Go NoCo officials are seeking exceptions to multiple conditions placed on Regional Tourism Act funding granted by the state, in part because certain pieces of the $330 million package of projects are struggling to raise funding.

But the Denver Business Journal reports that state officials from Colorado’s Office of Economic Development and International Trade and the state’s Economic Development Commission pushed back against those requests during the EDC’s monthly meeting on Wednesday. Among Go NoCo’s requests is for permission to move forward with a hotel and water park in Loveland. An adjacent whitewater park was to be built first as a condition of the state contributing $86.1 million over 30 years to the Go NoCo projects, but Loveland officials reportedly said Wednesday that project doesn’t have funding yet from developers.

The Go NoCo projects include a hotel, conference center and golf course in Windsor and a new horror-film center at The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park in addition to the Loveland projects.
