Galeton Reservoir relocation discussed due to oil and gas risks
Northern Colorado’s oil and gas boom could cause a significant hiccup for the Northern Integrated Supply Project, a controversial plan to build a pair of reservoirs that would divert water from the Poudre and South Platte rivers.
The Coloradoan reports that Northern Water officials might move the smaller of the two reservoirs, Galeton, which is slated to be built northeast of Greeley, because roughly two dozen active oil and gas wells on the site pose a risk of water contamination.
