Front Range Internet tripling size of its data center

FORT COLLINS – Front Range Internet Inc. has expanded its data center, allowing the company to serve hundreds more customers.

The company, founded in 1995 by Bill Ward and his son, Brad, has added an additional 3,000 square feet at its office at 3350 Eastbrook Drive in Fort Collins. Front Range Internet previously occupied about 1,200 square feet at the location.

The company built its first data center in 2004, Bill Ward said.

“This is our second expansion of space,” he said. “We sold out the space in our first (expansion) and needed to expand to continue growing.”

Front Range Internet serves small and large businesses across the Front Range, including companies in Denver. The company provides backup storage as well as connections to customers with demand for large computing capacity.

Bill Ward said the increased customer demand comes from the need companies have for information technology maintenance.

“We’re seeing people be a lot more conscious on spending and utilization of technology,” he said. “We’ve recently added some Fortune 500 companies into our space along with some of the local smaller companies.”

Front Range Internet, which employs about 25 people, will celebrate its expansion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony March 28. Mayor Karen Weitkunat said she plans to attend the celebration.
