Frisbie named to head Platte River Power Authority

FORT COLLINS — Jason Frisbie, who has worked with the Platte River Power Authority for 34 years, will take the helm of the nonprofit utility on Aug. 6.

The PRPA board of directors on Thursday named Frisbie general manager and chief executive. He will replace Jackie Sargent, who recently was named general manager of Austin Energy in Austin, Texas, where she previously had worked. She and Frisbie will work together on a transition plan between now and her departure from PRPA on Aug. 5. Sargent will start her new job in Austin on Aug. 15.

“As the board considered options in selecting a new GM and CEO, it quickly became obvious that the best choice was already on staff,” said board chairman Tom Roiniotis, general manager of Longmont Power and Communications. “Jason was part of our national search four years ago and has since distinguished himself as chief operating officer, serving as a key business partner with Jackie.”

Solar Operations and Maintenance for Commercial Properties

One key qualification to consider when selecting a solar partner to install your system is whether they have an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) or service department. Since solar is a long-term asset with an expected lifecycle of 30 plus years, ongoing O&M should be considered up front. A trusted O&M partner will maximize your system’s energy output and therefor the return on your investment.

Since joining PRPA in 1982, Frisbie has served in multiple roles including bulk-material operator and supervisor, site-maintenance supervisor, air-quality and water supervisor, plant-maintenance manager and division manager for power production. He was named chief operating officer in 2010.

Frisbie holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial technology from Colorado State University and a master’s in business administration from the University of Phoenix.

Sargent had headed PRPA since August 2012. The announcement of her hiring in Texas was made May 19 by Austin city manager Marc Ott. She said she’s taking the job in part because she soon will have a new grandchild in Austin.

Fort Collins-based PRPA provides wholesale electricity generation and transmission for Estes Park, Fort Collins, Longmont and Loveland.
