Fort Collins’ Weitkunat seeks re-election

FORT COLLINS — Fort Collins Mayor Karen Weitkunat announced Wednesday that she will run for re-election in April.

Weitkunat was first elected in 2011 and is so far the only person to announce her candidacy for the position.

The city election will take place on April 2.

Weitkunat also served on the City Council from 1999 to 2007 and has served on several other local boards. She has also been a part of the Larimer County Planning Commission and the Colorado State Housing Board.

In addition to the mayoral race, the April 2 ballot will include three City Council seats.
