Fort Collins startup QuadshoX appoints Bill Cobb chairman, CFO

FORT COLLINS — QuadshoX LLC, a Fort Collins-based startup that is developing technology to equip manual wheelchairs with rear-wheel suspension, has appointed former CH2M Hill executive Bill Cobb as chairman and interim chief financial officer.

Cobb mentored company founder and chief executive John Morris through Colorado State University’s Accelerator Program as he worked on a business model for his company.

“Bill has been with me every step of the way throughout the creation of QuadshoX,” said Morris, a quadriplegic due to a snowboarding accident that occurred when he was 18.

Ways to thank a caregiver

If you have a caregiver or know someone who has been serving as a primary caregiver, March 3rd is the day to reach out and show them how much they are valued!

Morris said that while attending CSU, he made the switch from an attendant-operated Tilt-In-Space wheelchair to a power chair. Afterward, he wondered why the power chair had suspension but the manual wheelchair did not.

“I pursued my idea further at the Institute of Entrepreneurship at CSU, where I made my dream of helping others with similar disabilities into a reality,” he said.  QuadshoX launched a 45-day Kickstarter campaign June 15 to raise $96,000 that will be used to fund the initial inventory of the QX-1 and the QX-2, the company’s first rear-wheel suspension models intended to improve a user’s quality of ride, as well as their quality of life. The company hopes to release its inaugural products this fall.

“He (Cobb) knows exactly what I am trying to accomplish with QuadshoX,” Morris said in a prepared statement. “The team is very fortunate to have someone with his background and experiences take an active role to help our new company evolve. I look forward to continuing to learn from Bill and working with him in the months and years ahead.”

Cobb recently served as managing director of North American operations for CH2M Hill’s Communications Division. Cobb is an adviser for CSU’s Institute for Entrepreneurship and wrote “Targeted Tactics –Transforming Strategy into Measurable Results,” and co-authored “Business Alchemy: Turning Ideas into Gold.”
