Fort Collins investors pay $915,000 for former Bank of the West building

FORT COLLINS — The Cosner Financial Group has purchased an office building in Fort Collins and hopes to find a tenant to occupy the space.

Cosner Bank LLC paid $915,000 in cash for the 3,200-square-foot free-standing building at 1437 Mulberry St. to Del Sol LLC, a group of Fort Collins-based investors.

The building was constructed in 2008 to serve as a bank and at one time was leased by Bank of the West. It currently is empty.

Solar Operations and Maintenance for Commercial Properties

One key qualification to consider when selecting a solar partner to install your system is whether they have an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) or service department. Since solar is a long-term asset with an expected lifecycle of 30 plus years, ongoing O&M should be considered up front. A trusted O&M partner will maximize your system’s energy output and therefor the return on your investment.

Jim Cosner, head of the financial group, said he originally bought the building on Mulberry thinking he would move his four-person staff there, but he reconsidered.

“We’ll stay put. I am looking for a tenant for the building. … I expected Mulberry will look very different in five to 10 years,” he said Monday.

Cosner founded his financial group 25 years ago in Midland, Texas, where he still maintains an office. He has been operating in Fort Collins since 2007, most recently in the Penny Flats office condos at 204 Maple St., where he plans to stay. Cosner splits his time between Fort Collins and Midland.

The group specializes in 401(k) rollovers, retirement planning, college savings and life insurance. It also works with charitable trusts, nonprofit organizations and endowments.

Jerry Chilson and Bill Reilly of Sperry Van Ness/The Group Commercial LLC listed the property and also represented the buyer in the transaction.
