Fort Collins couple acquires Clays’ Ace Hardware

FORT COLLINS — Tim and Julie Kenney have acquired Clays’ Ace Hardware in south Fort Collins from Lisa and Jim Clay for an undisclosed amount.

The Clays opened the 13,500-square-foot store at 1001 E. Harmony Road in 2003. The building in the strip mall, owned by Brad March, was not part of the sale.

The Kenneys, Fort Collins residents, took ownership Nov. 1 and don’t plan any changes at the hardware store.

Solar Operations and Maintenance for Commercial Properties

One key qualification to consider when selecting a solar partner to install your system is whether they have an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) or service department. Since solar is a long-term asset with an expected lifecycle of 30 plus years, ongoing O&M should be considered up front. A trusted O&M partner will maximize your system’s energy output and therefor the return on your investment.

“Julie and I are privileged to be part of such a strong culture of service and such a great team built by the Clays and their managers,” Tim Kenney said in a prepared statement. “(Manager) Mike Buderus and Marilyn Dansby have been part of this ongoing success story since the very start. We are very excited they and all the associates will remain at Clays’ Ace Hardware.”

Tim Kenney has worked in banking for 28 years, and Julie Kenney worked in marketing for the same period, including owning a small business for 20 years. Tim Kenney will be in the store full time, and Julie Kenney will maintain her full-time position at The Health District of Northern Larimer County.

Lisa and Jim Clay will continue to work full time for Advance Tank and Construction Co. in Wellington. Jim Clay has been president for Advance Tank since 2004, while Lisa Clay serves as chief financial officer and general counsel.
