FORT COLLINS — Former Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has signed on as a spokesman for Fort Collins-based Otter Products LLC, a designer and manufacturer of protective cases for smartphones and tablets that uses the tradename OtterBox.
Television ads featuring Manning and Ollie the Otter competing for top billing as the company spokesperson, or spokesotter, will begin airing Friday, Sept. 16, on ESPN and run through Oct. 31.
The ad series follows the rivalry as Manning is introduced to the OtterBox family. The 30-second spots were filmed at OtterBox facilities in Fort Collins and feature OtterBox employees, including company founder Curt Richardson, playing himself. The spots were developed in collaboration with MAKE Films based in Lancaster, Pa.
“I’ve enjoyed getting to know the OtterBox team, as it’s clear they are a company that values their employees,” Manning said in a prepared statement. “The ad series does a great job in conveying the light-hearted nature of the team, and I’m up for the challenge of stepping into Ollie’s shoes.”
A sneak peak of the first commercial can be seen on Otterbox’s Facebook page Thursday and the full first commercial will be on the page Friday. The company is offering a chance to win gear signed by Manning by checking out OtterBox on Twitter.
