Five finalists selected for Monfort’s Entrepreneurial Challenge

GREELEY — Five finalists have been selected to compete for a portion of $50,000 in prize money at the Monfort College of Business’ eighth annual Entrepreneurial Challenge.

The companies will present their business plans to a panel of judges in a Shark Tank format April 28 at the University Center on the University of Northern Colorado campus.

Exploring & expressing grief

Support groups and events, as well as creative therapies and professional counseling, are all ways in which Pathways supports individuals dealing with grief and loss.

Class Composer, Boulder, has developed a web-based software service to help elementary schools create better class lists in less time.

EZ Protein, Pueblo, has developed a protein dispenser that stores up to three types of protein powders or other supplements and water, and has a touchscreen user interface.

Lacuna Diagnostics, Fort Collins, promises to save pets’ lives by reducing diagnostic turnaround time by creating and sharing digital images rather than relying on shipments of physical microscope slides.

Stow, Windsor, has developed an online community and marketplace for storage and parking, allowing users with extra storage space to make money by listing it on the Stow platform.

To Market, Arvada, has created an online marketplace for sourcing local food, bringing efficiencies previously missing to the local buying and selling process of high-quality foods to restaurants.

The first-place winner will receive $25,000, second place $13,000, third place $7,000, and fourth and fifth places will receive $2,500 each. In addition to the prize money, winners will receive business incubator services from UNC BizHub, the business incubator at UNC.

The competition was open to Colorado-based startup ventures or businesses that have begun business development, market research and product development.
