Fischer tapped as state House ag committee chair

Rep. Randy Fischer, D-Fort Collins, was appointed Wednesday as chairman of the House Agriculture, Livestock and Natural Resources Committee.

The committee reviews proposed changes to Colorado’s mining industry and will be involved in the debate about counties and cities trying to exert more control of oil and gas development, according to a statement from Colorado House Democrats.

The committee also oversees changes to water law and other agricultural topics statewide and has legislative oversight responsibility for the departments of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
