FC Country Club selects Heath Construction for $5 million expansion

The Fort Collins Country Club selected Heath Construction for its $5 million expansion to begin in April. The expansion is projected to take five months and will include the construction of three indoor tennis courts, an expansion of the fitness facility and spa, a more extensive golf pro shop and a new casual-dining restaurant.

Five different general contractors were considered for the expansion project, said General Manager Scott Szymoniak, but with the desire to retain local roots, the club selected Heath Construction.

“We definitely wanted to stay local and help support the community and economy,” he said. “Heath Construction has had a long history with the club with (Randy DeMario) being a member, so we knew they had an interest in making sure our project was going to be done properly.”
DeMario is the president of Heath Construction in Fort Collins.

The club expansion, designed by Marsh & Associates Inc. of Denver, represents the largest member-voted capital expense in the club’s 54-year history.

“With this expansion and renovation, Fort Collins Country Club will offer the most complete collection of year-round amenities in the region,” club president Mark Smith said in a statement. “We’re the only club where members can enjoy golf, indoor and outdoor tennis, formal and casual dining, a swimming pool, ballroom, spa and fitness studio, all in a gorgeous setting only 5 minutes from Old Town.”

Szymoniak said they expect to break ground within the first two weeks of April. The new tennis courts and fitness facility are projected to be open for member use by the end of August 2014.
