Exports, patent protection workshop today
The first of several meetings planned statewide to aid companies seeking to expand their operations abroad will take place in Fort Collins from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The session will be held at CSU’s Rockwell Hall West, Room 116.
In the first 10 months of 2012, Colorado’s exports increased by 10 percent, amounting to nearly $7 billion in revenue for Colorado businesses, according to Bennet’s office. The workshops will help businesses, entrepreneurs, ranchers, farmers, agricultural producers and food processors take advantage of the trend and grow their customer base outside the U.S.

At the workshop, attendees will hear from panelists with experience in exports, financing overseas distribution and protecting intellectual property. Information will be provided by the Colorado Department of Agriculture, U.S. Department of Commerce, Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, World Trade Center Denver and the Colorado Bar Association Intellectual Property Section.
“Colorado businesses are consistently at the cutting edge of innovation and growth and expanding beyond our borders is just another example of that trend,” Bennet said. “Although there are federal resources available to support such expansion, navigating the process can be daunting for some businesses. These sessions will help explain that process in greater detail and provide expert advice on international exports and patent protection.”
