Bixpo 2005 panel discussion features renown economists

LOVELAND ? The Northern Colorado Summit will give area businesspeople the opportunity to partake in a panel discussion led by some of the nation?s foremost economists.

Held from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, the Summit, the closing panel of the two-day Bixpo 2005, a business exhibition, trade show and Speaker Series, offers attendees the opportunity to interact with leading experts on the economy.

Bixpo 2005 is presented by the Northern Colorado Business Report, The Boulder County Business Report, the Wyoming Business Report and Buzz Events.

Panelists for the Northern Colorado Summit are:

? Thomas M. Hoenig, chief executive of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and member of the Federal Reserve System?s Open Market Committee. Hoenig directs Federal Reserve activities in the seven-state Tenth Federal Reserve District.

? Alex Pollock, resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. Prior to coming to the institute in 2004, Pollock was president and chief executive of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago for 12 years. At the institute he is researching the American financial system and banking structure, government-sponsored enterprises, accounting standards and Social Security.

? Thomas R. Saving, director of the Private Enterprise Research Center at Texas A&M University. Saving?s research has covered the areas of antitrust and monetary economics, health economics, the theory of the banking firm, and the general theory of the firm and markets.

* Kate Warne, principal of research and market strategist at the Edward Jones Investment Firm in St. Louis. Warne was named a principal with the firm in 1999 and became a member of the Investment Policy Advisory Committee in 2003.

The Northern Colorado Summit is presented in cooperation with the Colorado State University Department of Economics, headed by Ronnie Phillips.

Bixpo, running Sept. 14 and 15, also features a Speaker Series.
