Erie trustees to delay consideration of Encana MOU

ERIE — The Erie Board of Trustees will delay consideration of a proposed memorandum of understanding with Encana Corp. until late August, when the entire board is present to consider the agreement with the oil and gas exploration company.

In a letter released late Friday, Erie Mayor Tina Harris noted that a vote of the board at its Tuesday meeting had been widely expected. “However,” she continued, “due to a scheduling conflict with two trustees who will be out of town next week, I have asked that this item be moved until such time that the entire board is present and all are able to provide their input on this important document. I shared my intent with Encana representatives today and they graciously agreed to my request.”

The operator agreement will be scheduled for the Aug. 25 Board of Trustees meeting, Harris said. The full document will be released in advance of this meeting on Erie’s website to allow time for public review and for the board to gather feedback from Erie citizens.
