Eldorado builds ‘largest’ climbing structure

BOULDER – Eldorado Climbing Walls in Boulder said Friday afternoon that it has built what it calls the largest manmade outdoor rock-climbing structure.

Part of the Boy Scouts of America’s extreme sports village at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia, the structure will be unveiled at the 2013 National Jamboree that runs July 15 through 24. Eldorado believes it is the largest manmade outdoor climbing structure in the United States.

The 60,000-square-foot structure is divided into two areas: The Rocks and Boulder Cove. It is constructed from Eldorado’s ShotRock product and hand-sculpted to mimic the local rock styles and climbing features of the New River Gorge.
