Eldora appeals federal decision on expansion

Eldora Mountain Resort, west of Nederland, has filed an appeal of a decision by the U.S. Forest Service that allowed some aspects of the resort’s planned expansion but delayed some parts that Eldora sees as critical to its success.

According to the Daily Camera, the Forest Service ruling in October only allows improvements within the resort’s existing boundaries and leaves out provisions in a March 1 draft that would have permitted 88 acres worth of expansion. Eldora wanted to build two new lifts in that expansion area that would give it 2,000 feet of vertical terrain instead of the current 1,600 feet.
