Economist to keynote real estate conference

BOULDER – Mark Snead, an economist and president of RegionTrack Inc., will deliver the keynote address at the Boulder Valley Real Estate Conference & Forecast set for Thursday, Nov. 15.

The conference will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Millennium Harvest House Boulder, 1345 28th St., Boulder.

Presented by the Boulder County Business Report, the conference will feature sessions on the art of development, infill analysis, pricing strategies, national developers, residential success strategies and a forecast for 2013.

Snead’s talk, “Economic Climate for Commercial Real Estate,” will draw from his company’s research that focuses on economic modeling and forecasting and local area economic development.

Prior to founding RegionTrack in Oklahoma City, Snead served as vice president and Denver branch executive of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. Before that, he was a research economist on the Oklahoma State Econometric Model at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and the founding director of OSU’s Center for Applied Economic Research.

Snead holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and economics from the University of Georgia, a master’s degree in economics and finance from Georgia Institute of Technology, and a doctorate in economics from Oklahoma State.

The conference agenda includes:

10-11:30 a.m.
The Art of Development
Explores what economic and financial conditions are necessary to drive new commercial and residential construction. An expert panel examines lease rates, vacancy rates, inventory and other factors.

11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Keynote address

12:45 to 2 p.m.
Infill analysis
Where will local municipalities actively promote redevelopment or new development? The focus will be on what Boulder, Longmont, Broomfield and other communities in the Boulder Valley want to see in commercial development.

Pricing Strategies
Covers how brokers can devise the best strategy for pricing luxury homes.

2:15 to 3:30 p.m.:
National developers
Many national development companies have entered the Boulder Valley market. What attracted these companies to the Boulder region, and what are their plans going forward? An expert panel will include speakers from Goff Capital, Unico, NewMarkMerrill, Hines and Franklin Street.
