E-470 toll rates increase

E-470 to toll rates next year will rise by five cents for ExpressToll customers and by five to 10 cents for those billed via their license plates.

ExpressToll customers whose vehicles are equipped with transponders will continue to pay about 20 percent less than those billed through license-plate toll.

The 2015 E-470 toll rates for a two-axle vehicles:

The ExpressToll rate at Toll Plaza A, between Chambers Road and Peoria Street in Aurora, will total $2.50. At the other four toll plazas, the ExpressToll rate will total $2.75. All ExpressToll ramp tolls will total $1.15.

The license-plate toll rate at Toll Plaza A will be $3.15, an increase of 10 cents. At the other four toll plazas, the license-plate toll rate will be $3.45, a rate hike of five cents. All license plate toll ramp tolls will be $1.45, up five cents.

Rates for vehicles with more than two axles can be found online at www.expresstoll.com.

Toll rates are calculated to ensure E-470 can meet its $1.6 billion debt service obligation to bondholders as well as operational costs. E-470’s toll rates are a part of a finance plan originally approved in 1995.

The E-470 Public Highway Authority board reaffirmed the planned 2015 toll increase at its Nov. 13.
