DevelopIntelligence moves HQ to Boulder

BOULDER – DevelopIntelligence LLC, a software-developer training firm, has moved its headquarters from Louisville to Boulder.

The move, announced Thursday, began last week as employees cleared out of the company’s 800-square-foot former space at 706 Front St. in Louisville and began moving in at 3200 Carbon Place, Suite 101, in Boulder. The new space is about 2,200 square feet.

The move came in part to move the company closer to the heart of Boulder’s bustling tech startup scene. But it also gives DevelopIntelligence space to accommodate growth and add a classroom setting to the mix.

DevelopIntelligence primarily offers developer training for large companies, often going onsite to conduct training for several employees at a time in a variety of programming languages. The classroom will allow the company to host public courses and workshops on programming and emerging technologies. The company also plans to hold roundtable discussions to help people such as local human resources managers learn how to attract, retain and develop engineers.

“For 10 years, our clients have been asking us to run public open enrollment courses,” DevelopIntelligence founder and chief executive Kelby Zorgdrager said. “We felt this space in Boulder, along with the need in the Boulder market for highly skilled developers, it only made sense to finally open up a training facility. We want to give back to the software community by providing open office hours, hack-a-thons, and a great place to learn new and emerging technologies.”

DevelopIntelligence was founded in 2003 but has taken off over the past few years.

The company, which has six regular employees and dozens of contract instructors, topped last year’s Boulder County Business Report Mercury 100 list of the fastest-growing private companies in Boulder and Broomfield counties for businesses with revenue of less than $2 million. DevelopIntelligence revenue increased from $226,470 in 2010 to almost $1.7 million in 2012, the period measured for the Mercury 100 list.

DevelopIntelligence’s 2013 revenue increased to $2.1 million, and Zorgdrager said he expects about 45 percent growth this year, coming from both the Boulder/Denver market and deeper ties in the Bay Area, Seattle and Boston.
