Developers delay construction on Wolf Creek village while lawsuit pending

Developers of a village atop Wolf Creek Pass that could include homes for as many as 8,000 people will delay construction while a lawsuit over the site goes through the court system.

The Denver Post reports that the developers did not have immediate construction plans and are still finalizing a land swap with the U.S. Forest Service. As part of that deal, Texas investor Red McCombs had traded 177 acres of wetlands for 205 acres of Forest Service land that connects another parcel of his on the pass to Highway 160 that runs through the area.

A team of four environmental groups sued last month in an attempt to have the deal overturned.
