Denver-Julesburg Basin rig count holds steady
After several weeks in a row of declines, the number rigs exploring for oil and natural gas in the Denver-Julesburg Basin held steady this week at 39. But the count is still down 16 from the same time a year ago.
The figures come from the latest rig count report released by Baker Hughes Inc. (NYSE: BHI).
The Denver-Julesburg Basin covers much of northern Colorado as well as parts of Wyoming and Nebraska.

As a state, Colorado saw its rig count fall from 47 to 44 this week. The latest figure is 18 lower than a year ago.
The nation’s count fell by another 43 rigs to 1,267, down 502 from a year ago as crude oil prices have languished around $50 per barrel. North Dakota suffered the biggest drop this week, losing 11 rigs to fall to 108, down 60 from a year earlier.
