CSU releases informational video on NISP reservoir project, process

FORT COLLINS — Colorado State University on Monday released an informational video that aims to explain the basics of the Northern Integrated Supply Project and its 1,500-page supplemental draft environmental impact statement released last month by the Army Corps of Engineers.

If approved, NISP would include construction of Glade and Galeton reservoirs, which combined could store more than 215,000 acre-feet of water, 40,000 of which would be allocated to municipal water supplies annually. The project has been controversial because of its potential impacts on the Poudre River.

The eight-minute CSU video, titled “NISP (and its SDEIS) in a Nutshell,” doesn’t take a position on the project but uses colorfully animated characters to instead provide a basic understanding of what the project and process leading up to it will entail.

Ways to thank a caregiver

If you have a caregiver or know someone who has been serving as a primary caregiver, March 3rd is the day to reach out and show them how much they are valued!

“We produced the video to be an objective resource, knowing that much of what the public hears about the subject comes from either project proponents or opponents, promoting their respective views,” MaryLou Smith, policy and collaboration specialist with the Colorado Water Institute in CSU’s Office of Engagement, said in a prepared statement. “This piece gives the public a foundation from which to dig deeper, if they wish.”
