CSU Natural Gas Symposium gets new name, broader focus
FORT COLLINS — Colorado State University’s Natural Gas Symposium enters its sixth year with a new name.
CSU officials announced this week that this year’s event will be dubbed the 21st Century Energy Transition Symposium to reflect a broadening mission. The two-day conference slated for Sept. 28 and 29 in the CSU Lory Student Center Ballroom will feature a range of science, industry leadership, best practices and policy implications across a broad spectrum of energy and sustainability issues.
Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy, will deliver the keynote address at 6 p.m., Sept. 28, following a 5 p.m. public reception.

The opening day will kick off with a presentation from Ellen Williams, director of the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy at the Department of Energy, during the C3E Women in Clean Energy Luncheon. The Day 2 lunch keynote will come from Vice Admiral Dennis McGinn, assistant secretary of the Navy.
Other highlights from the two-day event include CSU scientists presenting six-minute pitches on their research covering various aspects of energy transition. Various topics to be covered at the conference include climate science, the EPA Clean Power Plan, the electric grid, and energy transitions in the United States.
All events at the symposium are free and open to the public but do require online registration. A full agenda can be found on CSU’s website. All sessions will also be live-streamed.
