CSU among world’s best for business

FORT COLLINS – CSU’s business and economics programs rank in the top 15 in the world, according to a ranking released by China’s Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

CSU placed 76th out of the top 500 universities in the world on the Academic Ranking of World Universities. The programs were ranked at No. 101 in 2012, the first year they appeared on the list.

Universities in 26 countries were evaluated in several subject fields relating to science, technology, mathematics, economics and social science.

CSU has appeared in the overall rankings since 2003. This year, the university’s life and agricultural sciences fields were ranked in the top 10 percent and the chemistry department was ranked in the top 15 percent.

The Academic Ranking of World Universities is conducted by researchers at the Center for World-Class Universities of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

The ranking evaluates universities on research performance, using indicators like number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals and number of highly-cited researchers selected by Thomson Scientific.
