Crude oil trans-loading terminal to be built in Weld County

WELD COUNTY – Denver-based ARB Midstream, LLC announced this week that it will build and operate a crude oil trans-loading terminal in Weld County near Evans to serve the greater Denver-Julesburg (DJ) Basin.

The terminal, named Niobrara Connector or “NiCon,” will be served by the Union Pacific Railroad.

It will be designed to accommodate multiple grades of crude oil typical of the DJ Basin production with initial storage capacity of 200,000 barrels, expandable to over 400,000 barrels.

The facility will have three rail loops that are capable of handling full 120 tank-car unit trains.

The site will initially be capable of receiving crude oil from trucks, with pipe connections to be completed in the future.

“The Niobrara Connector Rail Terminal will be a world class crude-to-rail facility and one of the first purpose built crude oil unit train facilities in the prolific Niobrara play in DJ Basin,” said Adam Bedard, CEO of ARB Midstream, in a statement.

The company could not immediately be reached for comment.

ARB Midstream focuses on constructing, developing and optimizing crude-oil related assets.
The company’s private equity investor is BV Natural Resources, LLC, which is a subsidiary of Ball Ventures, LLC based in Idaho Falls, ID.
