Corn growers elect new president

Dave Eckhart of LaSalle has been elected the new president of the Colorado Corn Growers Association.
The announcement was made Jan. 30 at the annual meeting at Island Grove Regional Park in Greeley. Formerly CCGA treasurer, Eckhart will replace Doug Melcher of Holly, Colo. Melcher will remain on the board’s executive committee.

A presidential term for the CCGA lasts one year, with a new president elected by board members annually, said Jared Fiel, CCGA communications and marketing director. The president is responsible for organizing and running meetings, as well as assigning members to various subcommittees and action teams.

While the president is voted in by board members, other directors are voted in by CCGA membership.

Solar Operations and Maintenance for Commercial Properties

One key qualification to consider when selecting a solar partner to install your system is whether they have an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) or service department. Since solar is a long-term asset with an expected lifecycle of 30 plus years, ongoing O&M should be considered up front. A trusted O&M partner will maximize your system’s energy output and therefor the return on your investment.

The annual meeting also addressed three areas of change to the organization’s bylaws, all of which were passed unanimously by CCGA members. These changes include allowing the board to conduct business electronically, providing flexibility of the timing of the annual meeting in the future and lowering the number of producer members needed for a quorum for membership meetings from 25 to 15.

The Colorado Corn Growers Association works on behalf of more than 4,000 corn producers through market development, communications, research and development.
