Community Food Share hires Michelle Orge as executive director

LOUISVILLE — Community Food Share , a nonprofit food bank serving Boulder and Broomfield counties appointed Michelle Orge as its new executive director, replacing Jim Baldwin, who announced his retirement last September after serving 15 years.

Orge will begin work March 9. She has more than 13 years of experience in food-bank management.

She previously was with Food Gatherers, a Feeding America affiliate food bank in Ann Arbor, Mich., serving Washtenaw County. Orge served in a variety of capacities there including chief operating officer and chief program officer.

During her time at Food Gatherers, Orge helped to oversee a staff of 30, a volunteer corps of 6,000 members and an annual budget similar in size to Community Food Share’s, according to a prepared statement. Under Orge’s leadership, the organization distributed 6 million pounds of food each year and received a four-star Charity Navigator rating 10 years in a row.

Community Food Share has served the Boulder and Broomfield communities since 1981, distributing food through a network of 48 partner agencies, including food pantries, shelters, soup kitchens, meal programs, residential treatment homes, emergency food-box programs and in-warehouse Direct Service programs.  CFS distributed more than 8 million meals in 2014.

“Michelle’s experience with food banks, along with her energetic leadership, is a perfect fit as we continue to serve those most in need in our community,” said Molly Keveney, board chairwoman of Community Food Share. “The board of directors sincerely appreciates Jim Baldwin’s 15 years of service to Community Food Share.”
