Colorado State names Beth Walker first female dean of business school

FORT COLLINS – Colorado State University has named Beth Walker dean of the College of Business, the first female dean of the business school in its 50-year history.

Walker, chair of the marketing department at Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business, starts her new position at CSU on July 1. She will replace Ajay Menon, who is returning to the classroom at CSU College of Business after a dozen years serving as dean.

Walker joined the ASU faculty in 1988 and has served as marketing department chair since 2011, overseeing 27 full-time faculty members.

“The staff is first rate and the students are truly inspiring,” she said in a statement.

At ASU, Walker launched interdisciplinary concentrations and new specializations within the marketing department. Under her tenure, the ASU Evening MBA was ranked in the top 20 in the country by U.S. News and World Report, and The Wall Street Journal ranked the department’s executive MBA program No. 13 in the nation.

The College of Business at Colorado State enrolls more than 2,200 undergraduate business majors and more than 300 MBA candidates.
