Colorado procurement center to host Longmont office hours

LONGMONT —  The Colorado Procurement Technical Assistance Center will operate an office two days a week in Longmont to provide free assistance to companies in Boulder County that want to bid for government contracts.

Gary Henry, executive director of Colorado PTAC, will be in Longmont on Mondays and Thursdays at the Longmont Area Economic Council’s office at 630 15th Ave., Suite 100A.

“Doing business with the government can be a tremendous opportunity; however, bidding on government contracts can be a difficult process,” Henry said in a prepared statement. “PTAC services can provide that critical component for businesses to successfully compete for contracts.”

The Longmont Area Economic Council is providing in-kind services to PTAC through the use of office space and other support. Jessica Erickson, president of the LAEC, said PTAC services align well with the goals of the organization and the Advance Longmont economic-development strategy.

“These services enhance our economic-development goals by providing Longmont area businesses with direct access to resources intended to help them explore new avenues for growth through government contracting,” Erickson said.

PTAC provides education and assistance throughout the government-procurement process through centers nationwide; assisting with registrations, finding opportunities, marketing to the government, replying to solicitations, matchmaking between prime and subcontractors and answering questions during contract execution in such areas as invoicing, compliance and performance management. LAEC and PTAC will partner on events and programming in Longmont to help educate local businesses about government contracting, and introduce them to opportunities at the federal, state and local levels.

The Colorado PTAC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation funded by federal, state and local grant money and in-kind support. The PTAC partners with universities, community colleges, local economic-development corporations, small-business development centers and other business programs or local institutions delivering services statewide.
