Colorado in top 10 nationwide for new construction jobs

Colorado is among the top 10 states nationwide when it comes to creating construction jobs.

The state ranks 9th in the nation, according to the Associated General Contractors of America
Colorado experienced a 6 percent jump in construction employment, gaining 7,700 jobs in the 12-month period ending in July. Two other states, Arkansas and Louisiana, also ranked 9th.

All told, 39 states added construction jobs in the past year, with Nevada ranking No. 1 in the survey, creating 7,500 jobs for a 13.4 percent increase over 2013.

According to the AGC, the District of Columbia and 11 states lost construction jobs during the same period, with New Jersey losing 8.9 percent of its construction jobs, the most of any state.
