Colorado House OKs bill to raise oil and gas fines

Colorado House Democrats have approved a measure that would increase fines paid by oil and gas companies for breaking the law.

The bill was sponsored by Rep. Mike Foote, D-Lafayette, and passed the House by a vote of 35-27 on Monday, with all Republicans and Democratic Rep. Ed Vigil of Alamosa opposing it.
Now, the bill will go to the Senate, according to the Denver Business Journal.
