Colorado Health Medical Group CEO stepping down

The CEO of the Colorado Health Medical Group is resigning to take over as chief executive of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives.

Before taking over as CEO of Colorado Health Medical Group, Russell Branzell served as CIO and vice president of information services for Poudre Valley Health System.

PVHS merged with University of Colorado Health in January 2012 and Colorado Health Medical Group, a 160-physician multispecialty group, was formed from Poudre Valley Medical Group.

“In this role he’ll be able to positively impact the future of health care reform.  We look forward to continuing to work closely with him,” said University of Colorado Health President Rulon Stacey.

“As we search for a replacement, I’ll be filling in for him at Colorado Health Medical Group,” Stacey said.

The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives, or CHIME, began searching for a new leader in November. The group’s mission is to advance the role of CIOs and senior health care IT leaders.

CHIME is headquartered in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Branzell will take over as CEO on April 5.
