Colorado Cannabis Summit set for Thursday

DENVER – The first Colorado Cannabis Summit to be held Thursday in Denver will highlight issues facing the industry, including security, regulations and branding.

Red Thread Creative Group, a marketing firm, and Foothills Commercial Builders, both based in Denver, spearheaded the conference to join Colorado dispensary owners and operators as well as academics, scientists and entrepreneurs to promote industry growth.

The summit features industry experts who will speak on a variety of subjects such as establishing a successful marijuana business; branding, marketing, human resources and training; testing and safety protocol; regulations and taxes; technology; building design and construction; medical and recreational marijuana. A networking session also is held in the evening.

Stan Wagner, chief executive of Colorado Cannabis Summit, said he wanted to promote a culture of safety as well as share innovative technology through the event. The summit is targeting marijuana businesses and entrepreneurs as participants.

Organizers say the event is the first in Colorado to deal specifically with issues businesses face in the cannabis industry.

“This is the first of its kind to deal with business operations and not have the consumer focus,” Wagner said. “When you think about the cannabis industry, people just think of dispensaries: Really, there’s so much more that goes into it.”

The summit will be held at Exdo Event Center, 1399 35th St. in Denver.
